Iota Woman Dies In Single Car Crash

Shortly before 11:00am Louisiana State Police investigated a single vehicle crash near Iota that took the life of 20 year old Claire Lejeune of Iota. Lejeune was traveling north on LA 91 when she apparently lost control of her car, overcorrected, cross both lanes of the highway, ran off the road and struck a tree. Lejeune was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. She was airlifted to a local hospital where she later died. Alcohol is not suspected but routine toxicology samples were sent to the State Police Crime Lab. The crash remains under investigation.
