IPSO Arrests New Iberia Man on Drugs, Weapons Charges
A New Iberia man is facing numerous drug charges after deputies discovered more than $5,000 worth of narcotics in his home.
Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office spokesman Capt. Wendell Raborn said 33-year-old Ron Vanderbilt was arrested Thursday as part of an ongoing narcotics investigation.
Raborn said Special Investigations Unit agents, Criminal Response Team members, and the SWAT team, served a search warrant at a home in the 600 block of Lombard Street.
During execution of the search warrant, agents located a .38-caliber revolver, 5.3 grams of cocaine, 18.5 grams of crack cocaine and five Hydrocodone pills.
Vanderbilt was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail and charged with the following:
- Possession with the intent to distribute Schedule II narcotics
- Possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 2,000 ft. of a School Zone
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
At the time of the release, no bond had been set.
