Louisiana Farmer Designs Self-Driving Chicken Coop
A farmer in Sunset, Louisiana has designed and constructed a solar-powered and self-driving chicken coop.
KLFY News 10 recently featured this amazing design on a newscast, and now the chicken coop from Guidry Organic Farms LLC has caught the attention of so many.
Mark Guidry, who is a local farmer, says that he and friends, who are engineers, came up with this coop to protect his chickens from predators. Like many who live in the outlining areas, the biggest obstacle in raising farm animals is the area's predators.
So, Guidry designed this chicken coop/tractor that protects the chickens on their farm, and it moves several times a day. Powered by solar energy, this coop or tractor moves 30 feet each time, which allows the chickens to feed on fresh grass throughout the day.
This contraption is not being manufactured for others by Guidry and his friends at this time, but perhaps this will one day be available for purchase.
If you're wondering how long it took to build this mobile coop, Guidry tells News 10 that it took about a year to build.
I encourage you to visit Guidry Organic Farms on social media and see what they have to offer, and yes, they do more than just raise chickens.
