Whether it's our weather, food, music, culture, or even the way we talk, things are just unique in Louisiana.
Not only is Louisiana different from the rest of the U.S., but our culture varies wildly from within Pelican State as well.
Lafayette, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Shreveport are all in Louisiana, but all of these cities and cultures are very different from each other.
No matter where in Louisiana you grew up, there a certain things that can only be understood if you're from here.

When you grow up in Louisiana, you sometimes automatically think that the things we do here, people do in other States too.
Then at some point, you realize people in other States don't have boudin, zydeco, or even understand the things we say.
Below are "7 Things Only People From Louisiana Can Truly Understand".
1. A Louisiana Cold Front Means 70 Degrees
When the temperature hits 70 degrees in Louisiana, it's a cold front and the gumbo pots are hitting the stove.
We just aren't built for the Winter temps experienced in other States, so when the temperature gets down into the 40s, we basically go into survival mode.

2. Crawfish Boils Can Be As Dividing As Politics
A Louisiana crawfish boil is not just a meal, it’s a tribal ritual.
The seasoning, the boil pot size, the beer, the paper-covered tables, and the correct peeling method are all always up for debate.
It's our Louisiana culture. And yes, everyone has very strong opinions.
3. We Don’t Use GPS, We Use Landmarks

In Louisiana, we don't need GPS, we have local landmarks that work just fine when we're giving directions.
"Turn left at the old Sonic, then pass the house that used to be painted green."
Who needs GPS when we all know exactly where and what we're talking about, right?
4. You’re Either a Mardi Gras Person or You’re Not (And That’s Okay)
Some people in Louisiana plan their Mardi Gras outfits and float routes months ahead of the big day.
Some people take the opportunity for a much needed day off and just spend the day binging Netflix.
And sometimes, you're both people throughout your life in Louisiana.
5. Louisiana's Seasons Are: Summer, Still Summer, Wet Summer, and Football

We don’t really get a Fall in Louisiana, sometimes we get a Winter for a few weeks, but we do get Friday night High School Football, tailgating for College Football on Saturdays, and Sundays that revolve around the Saints.
We're good with it.
6. We Pronounce Things Our Way
Tchoupitoulas, Atchafalaya, Natchitoches, Courtbouillon, Choupique...if you know, you know.
And, don't even start trying to pronounce some of our last names.
When you grow up in Louisiana, you know how to say these things properly, and how we pronounce them is indeed the proper way.
We'll enjoy watching you try though.
7. We Don’t Just Live in Louisiana...We Are Louisiana
Louisiana is in our music, the food, the sweat, the slang, the family stories, and the land. Louisiana is more than a state. It’s our whole heartbeat.
When you're born and raised in Louisiana, you just find it hard to live anywhere else.
It's OK if you don't understand it, we're not asking anyone to because...it's just not something that can easily be explained.
