EUNICE, La. — A Eunice man has been arrested following a disturbing incident inside a local grocery store that was captured on surveillance video, according to authorities.

According to a News 15 report, police identified the suspect as 38-year-old Jody Vallier of Eunice. He has been charged with adulterating a food product after investigators say his actions compromised items inside the store.

Surveillance Video Leads To Arrest

According to the Eunice Police Department, the incident was brought to their attention after surveillance footage showed Vallier behaving inappropriately while inside the store.

Investigators say the video shows Vallier hiding in an area of the store before engaging in explicit behavior. Authorities allege that he then wiped his hands on a bunch of bananas that were available for purchase.

Contaminated Produce Destroyed

Police confirmed that the produce involved in the incident was immediately removed and destroyed to ensure public safety.

While officials have not released additional details about how long the items may have been on display, they emphasized that proper steps were taken once the situation was discovered.
