A vehicle crashed through the Youngsville Complex Sign early Sunday morning (Oct. 30).

Police got a call around 3:30 a.m. Sunday after an SUV crashed through the structure located at the center of the Detente & Chemin Metairie roundabout in Youngsville.

The sign is somewhat of a landmark in Youngsville as it flanks the massive sports complex that plays home to sports on just about every level of their respective games—not to mention a staple for the community to use for working out, recreation, or simply relaxing.

In just the last two weeks, a second sign was completed at the Chemin Metairie & Savoy roundabout. Fortunately, that sign was not affected by this incident.

According to Youngsville authorities, the driver of a late-2000s model Hummer SUV was issued a summons for hit-and-run after their vehicle was located on Guillot Road.

The driver drove through the Détente roundabout while heading towards rouses. The driver then made a U-turn at the Savoy roundabout, then proceeded to drive back to the tractor roundabout at Guillot where they then parked and called 911, claiming that an 18-wheeler hit them.

Luckily, there were no reported injuries or any other vehicles involved.

Youngsville Mayor Ken Ritter made a post on Facebook informing residents that they "will rebuild" the destroyed sign as the inevitable memes began to pour in.
