Jeanerette Pedestrian Killed In Early Morning Crash

JEANERETTE, La. (KPEL) -- Police say a pedestrian is dead following a single-car crash on Hwy. 182 early Thursday morning.

According to Louisiana State Police Trpr. Stephen Hammons, 22-year-old Benjamin Breaux of Jeanerette was walking north on the highway when he was hit from behind by a car driven by 51-year-old Elizabeth Delahoussaye of Jeanerette.

Breaux was pronounced dead at the scene, Hammons said. It's not known why he was walking on the highway, but routine toxicology samples were taken, he said.

Delahoussaye was not injured, and the crash remains under investigation.
