I have driven by it on I-10 many times in my journeys between Lafayette and Lake Charles. I have yet to stop. But apparently I am one of the few who hasn't stopped in to see what all the fuss is about at the Gator Chateau.

The Gator Chateau is part of the newly remodeled visitors center that travelers can use as a rest stop during their journey's on I-10. In addition to all the necessary comforts a roadside rest area should have, this one has more. A lot more. Probably the most notable difference between this rest area and any other are the baby gators.

Between May of 2019 when the newly remodeled center opened until December of last year nearly 37,000 people stopped in to take a look. The attraction was honored last week by the Louisiana Travel Association as "Attraction of the Year".

Hey, you don't have to be an out of towner to stop by and check out the Gator Chateau. It's open Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm. The facility is located on the north frontage road of I-10 at Exit 64 in Jennings.
