At some point this week, a state district judge is expected to issue a ruling on whether or not a St. Landry Parish School Board member should be removed from office.

Lawyers attended a hearing Monday with state District Judge James Doherty to discuss school board member Quincy Richard Sr., and whether or not he should lose his post on the board.

Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Ardoin contends Richard should not be allowed to remain on the board, or hold office as he pleaded guilty to filing false records in a 2004 case over the sale of diplomas and grades at Southern University.

Quincy Richard Jr. served as his father's attorney during the meeting yesterday.  He told the judge his father is eligible for office because he is not a convicted felon.
