Kaplan Police Chief Arrested On Theft, Malfeasance Charges
Kaplan Police Chief Boyd J. Adams has found himself on the wrong side of the law as he was arrested today for charges related to theft and malfeasance in office.
Louisiana State Police responded to a request to investigate a complaint of Boyd's alleged theft of department funds.
Investigators determined Adams was unable to provide receipts or records documenting his use of over $19,000 of Kaplan Police Department funds.
Investigators were able to determine Adams used nearly $7,000 of the total for personal purposes.
An arrest warrant was issued for Adams for violation of Theft over $5,000 and Malfeasance in Office. Adams was booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail.
