Louisiana State Police have charged a New Iberia man with vehicular homicide and other charges after a crash that killed a 17-year-old Jeanerette woman.

Troopers said the New Year's Day wreck happened about 9 p.m., when 34-year-old Terry Joseph was driving a 2007 Chevrolet truck west on Louisiana 96.

Police say Joseph and 17-year-old Anessia Baldwin were not wearing seatbelts when the truck ran off the road.

Baldwin died at the scene. Joseph was taken to an area hospital with moderate injuries.

Police say Joseph will be booked for drunk driving vehicular homicide, reckless operation, no seatbelt and driving with an expired license.

It wasn't immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
