A Lafayette attorney is behind bars after Louisiana State Police discovered she wrote, and then cancelled payment on, checks she wrote to several gambling venues.

Master Trooper Daniel Moreau, of Troop E, reported Jade R. Blasingame was arrested Thursday for felony theft after she wrote checks to several casinos and then cancelled payment on six of them totaling $450,000.

In December 2015, troopers with the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division,  in Marksville, began receiving information that eventually led to Blasingame's arrest.

Blasingame was then arrested at the Avoyelles Parish District Attorney’s Office and booked in the Avoyelles Parish Detention Center.
