Lafayette Car Burglar Caught in the Act

In the early morning hours today, Lafayette police were called out to the 100 block of Belle Fontaine Road about a car burglary.

Lafayette Police officers were met at the scene by an off-duty Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Deputy who detained suspect 21-year-old Brandon Edwards for burglarizing a car.

He was arrested for Simple Burglary of a Auto.

Police say Edwards was found in possession of handgun stolen from the car that was burglarized.

Detectives say their investigation is ongoing.
