Lafayette Fire Department Mourns Loss Of Firefighter
The Lafayette Fire Department is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Fire department spokesperson Alton Trahan announced Firefighter First Class Ervin J. Montgomery passed away from natural causes on Thursday, Jan. 5 in the company of his family.
Montgomery served the Lafayette Fire Department since 2011.
Trahan said Montgomery was a firefighter who was highly respected by his co-workers and who served with "sincere dignity and humility.
The Lafayette Fire Department will honor Montgomery with a Firefighter’s Last Call ceremony on Tuesday, Jan. 10 at Evangeline Memorial Gardens Cemetery. An escort from Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Carencro to the cemetery will take place immediately following the funeral.
