Yesterday US District Judge Richard Haik sentenced 23 year old Gary Berry of Lafayette to 14 years in prison and 15 years supervised release for receiving child pornography on his computer. In addition Berry will have to register as a sex offended upon his relief.

Berry plead guilty to using file-sharing software to collect and distribute prepubescent child pornography on line in 2012. Officers searched Berry's home and found hardcore prepubescent child pornography, some involving infants on his computer.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a Department of Justice nationwide effort to fight the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. If you'd like more information on this initiative visit www.projectsafechildhood.gov.
