Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a Lafayette man who is wanted in connection with a January burglary and vehicle theft.
 
On January 9, 2019, Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a burglary and vehicle theft at a residence in the 7000 block of Main Hwy.
 Upon further investigation, it was learned that a suspect, who was later identified as Brayton J. Galentine, 21, Lafayette, broke into the home in the early morning hours and took a set of car keys from the residence and drove off in the homeowner’s 2017 Ford Fusion. 
Galentine, however, left his personal vehicle in the driveway of the home he burglarized and was subsequently identified.
 
On January 11, 2019, the stolen vehicle, which had been burned, was located near Lake Fausse Point State Park by Deputies with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office.
At the end of the investigation, Investigators with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office obtained an Arrest Warrant for Brayton J. Galentine on the following charges:
 
  • 1 count of 14:62(A) Simple Burglary-(Felony)
  • 1 count of 14:67 (B) (2)-Theft above $5,000.00 but under $25,000.00 (Felony)
  • 1 count of 14:52 (A) Simple Arson (Felony)
