Lafayette Parish Fatality

State Police say a one-vehicle crash in Lafayette Parish late yesterday afternoon left the driver dead.  Troopers say 40-year-old Marcus Sonnier suffered fatal injuries when his Explorer veered off of highway 1252 near Melancon Road about 5 p.m. and slammed into a culvert.  He was not wearing a seatbelt.  Sonnier died of his injuries shortly after his arrival at a local hospital.  Troopers says routine toxicology tests are pending.
