Lafayette PD Investigating Shooting Near Northgate Mall, One Person Injured

Lafayette Police tells Kpel, via press release, that they have arrested 27-year-old Bryant Batiste in the shooting of a 32-year-old victim man.
Officials say that the argument that led to the victim being shot in the face had to do with a child custody exchange.

Lafayette Police are investigating a shooting that took place last night near the Northgate Mall.
Lafayette Police Department Spokesman Wayne Griffin tells Townsquare Media, via a press release, that the shooting took place in a parking lot near the northside Planet Fitness location. My Hood Lit shared a live eyewitness video on Facebook after police arrived on the scene.
Lafayette PD says one person sustained "non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital."
The suspect was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on a charge of Attempted Second Degree Murder.
