LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- Lafayette Police are investigating a Thanksgiving Day shooting that left one person dead.

According to Lafayette Police Cpl. Paul Mouton, the victim and 30-year-old Wilmar Fernandez Ramirez were having some type of argument at an apartment complex on West Congress when Ramirez allegedly pulled out a handgun and shot the victim.

"When officers arrived, they discovered the 41-year-old male victim lying in the hallway deceased from a gunshot wound," Mouton said.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for Ramirez on a charge of second degree murder, Mouton said.
