The Lafayette Police Department is investigating two Friday night shootings that each sent one victim to the hospital, but have yielded no suspects.

Police spokesman Karl Ratcliff said investigators do not believe that the two shootings are related.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., police responded to a shooting near an apartment complex in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to find a 17-year-old black female with minor injuries from the shooting. She was treated and released from the hospital. No suspects have been identified.

Ratclif said at approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 100 block of Monroe Street where they found a 27-year-old black male with a gunshot wound. Though he remains in the hospital this morning, he is listed in stable condition. Police are seeking unknown male suspects in this case.

Both shootings remain under investigation.

Anyone with information about either of these cases is urged to contact the Lafayette Police Department or Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
