Lafayette Police were called to the 400 block of Lourdes Street in town Saturday afternoon at about 5:30. The reason for their dispatch was the report of a shooting in the area. When officers arrived on the scene they encountered one victim with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

A Lafayette Police spokesperson said the victim identified the shooter as Chad Credeur. According to the victim's story, he and Credeur got into a verbal altercation. That altercation escalated and Credeur produced a weapon and fired it at the victim. The bullet struck the victim in the stomach. Credeur then fled the scene.

Lafayette Police currently have an active warrant out for Credeur. Anyone with knowledge of his whereabouts is encouraged to call authorities. Currently, Credeur is wanted on charges of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder. The victim in the shooting was transported to a local hospital however no update on his condition has been issued.
