Louisiana High School Student Arrested After Threatening to Kill Two Classmates

One Louisiana high school student didn't even make it to the first day of school after he was arrested for making several threats to two female students.

Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson said the 16-year-old boy allegedly told the other students they would not make it past the first day of school.

According to Chief Layrisson, the student said: "If you go to school on the first day you're not going to leave alive, and then if you are there at the end of the day you're going to be running for your life."

The male juvenile reportedly reached out to the victims through social media and phone calls making threats about the harmful violence that would take place at school.

Chief Layrisson said his department was not aware of any possible motives yet. He also said he has never had to stop a school threat before a school year began.

"It's become way too common throughout the school year in the last three to four years," Layrisson said. "I can never remember where we arrested them three to four days before the schools started. To me, that raised red flags."

The student was arrested and then released to the Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center.

The chief hopes that this shows his department's dedication to protecting the students and teachers and sends a message to anyone thinking of making similar threats.
