A Louisiana was arrested on several charges after she allegedly shot her daughter in the leg after firing shots in the direction of the child's father, according to WAFB.

The situation unfolded early this week when officials said there was an argument between Raven Mott and the father of Mott's daughter. It is claimed that Mott had a gun and fired two shots in the direction of the child's father. The man ran away from the scene. It is then claimed that Mott accidentally fired a third shot, and that shot hit her daughter in the leg.

Officials with the Baton Rouge Police Department were called to a hospital after the child was brought there to be treated for the gunshot wound. While investigating the situation, the detectives spoke to a neighbor who said the shooting happened on Tuesday, December 2, and she told the woman she needed to take her daughter to the hospital.

Detectives say Mott did not want to take the girl to the hospital and kept her with the wound at her home until Wednesday morning. Mott was afraid that she would get in trouble for what happened with the accidental shooting. The fear of being arrested was what ultimately happened. Whenever there is any sort of shooting at a medical facility, the proper authorities are always notified.

Baton Rouge Police Department officials say Mott is now facing the following charges in connection to what happened:

    • Attempted Second-Degree Murder
    • Second-Degree Cruelty to Juveniles
    • Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities
