Louisiana State Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting
Louisiana State Police officials were contacted Saturday night, December 21 to begin an investigation into a deputy-involved shooting in Tangipaho Parish according to Trooper Marc Gremillion, with the Public Affairs Division of State Police.
When asked about the incident, Tangipahoa Sheriff Gerald Sticker had the following statement,
This is an unfortunate situation at a truly tragic time. We have turned to State Police to lead this investigation. Our agency is following all appropriate protocols and policies and I want the community to know TPSO, in collaboration with State Police, will be sharing all of the details about this incident, at the appropriate time, as they become available throughout the investigative process in the Hammond area.
Gremillion says the shooting happened on South Baptist Road near US Highway 190 in Hammond. One suspect died at the scene, and no deputies were harmed during the shooting. Officials are not releasing much other information as they say they continue to investigate and gather evidence while processing the scene.
Louisiana State Police officials are asking anyone with video or pictures or both from the situation to report the information anonymously through their website at lsp.org. You look for the "Report Suspicious or Criminal Activity" button. You can also anonymously call the LSP Fusion Center Hotline at 1-800-434-8007.
