A Louisiana state trooper was injured doing his job Wednesday night according to WBRZ.

Hurricane Francine made landfall as a Category 2 in southeast Louisiana. Maximum sustained winds at the time were at 100 miles per hour. The storm made landfall at around 5 in the afternoon Wednesday in Terrebonne.

As the storm continued to impact Iberia, St. Mary, Terrebonne and other parishes, downed powerlines and trees began to be reported across the state.

At Louisiana State Police Troop A, located in Baton Rouge, they were responding to requests for help and rescue. One of the big things troopers were responding to was make sure that major thoroughfares were clear of debris.

A trooper went out to I-10 eastbound west of Louisiana Highway 22 in order to remove a tree that was blocking the roadway. Unfortunately, it was at this time that the trooper ended up being struck by another tree.

Fortunately for the trooper, the injuries reported were only minor.

Another trooper who was also at the scene was able to take the injured trooper to a hospital in the area for treatment.
