Louisiana Student Jailed after Making Death Threat Against Governor Jeff Landry
According to BRProud, a student who attends LSU has been arrested after allegedly making a death threat against Governor Jeff Landry on a social media platform.
What prompted the threat was the tiger that was brought out onto the field during the LSU Tigers game against Alabama on Saturday, November 9 in Tiger stadium.
According to the Advocate, there was no state funding or LSU funding that paid to bring the tigher, Omar Bradley, to tiger stadium. The tiger was brought in by Mitchel Kalmanson of Florida, but as far as who paid for that, there is still no answer.
Bringing the tiger to the game was something that angered animal rights' groups and others who thought it was cruel to do so.
As far as the threat against Governor Landry, police have arrested 21-year-old Jackson Pemberton of Baton Rouge for threatening a public official. According to an affidavit, a state police officer was given a picture of someone on X writing, “I am going to kill you, @JeffLandry.”
The post on the social media site prompted the start of an investigation by officials, and they determined that the post was made by Pemberton, so they went to his apartment on Burbank Drive, where he was arrested.
According to LSP officials, when they talked to Pemberton at his apartment he then said that he did post that on his X account. But the young man then said, according to an affidavit
that he was upset with the governor’s decision regarding the live tiger that was brought on the LSU football field this previous weekend.
