Louisiana Tragedy Unfolds After Officials Find Woman Dead in a House Fire
Officials with the Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating a camper fire in which a woman's body was found.
While not much is known about the situation at this time, State Fire Marshal Chief Bryan Adams says their investigation continues at this time.
The fire happened around noon on Wednesday, January 22, in the 100 block of Charlie Davis Road in Singer, and members of the Beauregard Fire District #1 responded to the blaze.
Chief Adams is reminding Louisiana residents of fire prevention information during cold weather. He has the following recommendations:
- If you are using a heating device like a space heater, make sure you plug it directly into the wall socket.
- All space heaters need to be at least three to five feet away from anything flammable.
- Never use extension cords or power strips to power space heaters or other heating appliances.
- You shouldn't overfill wood-burning stoves or fireplaces.
- Never leave anything with an open flame or a space heater unattended.
- Have at least one working smoke alarm in your home.
