Louisiana Troopers to Participate in National Check Seat Saturday

I am of the generation that was not supposed to survive. We rode bikes without helmets. We climbed trees without safety harnesses. We rode in cars without child safety seats. Fortunately, we survived our ignorance and can pass along to our first-hand knowledge of how these safety improvements have made the lives of our children safer.

That's why LSP is partnering with the University Medical Center New Orleans and the Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force to give away child safety seats as part of the National Seat Check Saturday, September 26th.

The program hopes to provide families in need with proper safety seats for their children. In order to be considered for the program, you will need to register. That registration can be made by following this link. The deadline to register is September 14, 2020.

Car crashes are the leading cause of death for children in Louisiana. Sadly, a good deal of those fatal crashes could have been avoided if the children involved had been properly restrained in a safety seat designed for their age, height, and weight. Child safety is every Louisiana resident's business. I do hope you'll share this information with anyone who you feel might need to rethink the safety of their children as they're riding in cars.
