There was a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 10 Thursday night that claimed the life of a 45-year-old man from Maurice.

Louisiana State Police Troop I Spokesman Trooper Thomas Gossen says that they don't know why Daniel Scott Palmer lost control of his car.

They are investigating the circumstances of this crash that happened in a curve of Louisiana Highway 10 near Louisiana Highway 182.

Palmer's Lexus ran off of the roadway, and the vehicle ending up hitting the cement portion of a canal.

The man, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a hospital, but he ultimately died from the crash. Gossen says they have taken routine toxicology tests as part of the investigation.
