Investigation into an early morning shooting on Sunday that killed former UL women's basketball player Bianca Davis, leads to the arrest of twin brothers, Jakil and Jamir Sophus, 18, of New Iberia.

The brothers were charged and taken into custody after interviews implicated them in the shooting that resulted in injuries to two and a fatal shot that claimed the life of a third victim. Daijuan Stewart, 21, of Baldwin suffered injuries to the abdomen area and a juvenile (identity being withheld) were treated at a medical facility in New Iberia. A young lady from the Cecilia area, 25 year old Bianca Davis, former UL Ragin Cajun basketball player was killed by a single gunshot wound.

The Casino Lounge located on the 1000 block of South Main Street was reserved for a private party in which minors could attend. Multiple fights and the shooting ensued as a large crowd exited the building just after midnight.

The St. Martinville Police Department is investigating an early morning shooting that resulted in one fatality Sunday.

According to the SMPD, an officer conducting crowd control at a night club near the intersection of Main and Dernier Streets reported shots fired in the area. Multiple fights ensued after patrons poured out of the establishment.

One of the first shots that were fired hit an unidentified make in the abdomen. The second round of shots occurred one block away near Dernier and Washington streets. This time, two unidentified females were struck by stray bullets. One of these females received fatal wounds and was pronounced deceased at a New Iberia medical facility.

One suspect was taken into custody last night, while another was expected to be interviewed today.
