Passenger Dies In Ascension Accident

GONZALES, La. (AP) — A Gonzales man has died in an Ascension Parish traffic accident.

State police say 21-year-old Dylan T. Martin was a passenger in a car that was southbound on U.S. Highway 61 Friday night. The car ran off the roadway, struck a culvert and rolled over several times, coming to rest on its roof.

Martin was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the car.

Troopers say the 24-year-old driver, Jason L. Williams of Gonzales, was properly restrained and had minor injuries. Williams has been charged with careless operation of the vehicle. State police say other charges are possible.
