HOUMA, La. (AP) — Houma police say a 45-year-old woman was killed when the car she was driving crashed into Bayou Black.

Police tell The Courier Leslie English was traveling west on Bayou Black Drive sometime after 11:30 p.m. Sunday when her car left the road, struck two trees and landed in the bayou.

About 11 a.m. Monday, police found English's car overturned and submerged in the bayou. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say English was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol is a suspected factor in the crash.
