Rayne Shooting Being Investigated

Officials with the Rayne Police Department have opened an investigation after there were reports of shots being fired.

According to Rayne Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly his officers went out to the 800 block of Lyman Avenue to what they say was an unauthorized party for Mardi Gras.

At some point, there were shots that were fired, and that's what prompted the call to 911.

No one was injured because of the shooting, and investigators are trying to ascertain what exactly happened.

All of this began unfolding at around 5:30 yesterday evening.
