Raise your hand if you've had enough rain for one week? I am imagining a lot of hands going up. But despite our desires, Mother Nature is refusing to cooperate and it looks like another very wet weekend across Acadiana and the Gulf South in general.

Many school systems across the area canceled classes for today. That was done in anticipation of more heavy rains. Forecasters say an additional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall can't be ruled out of the equation for South Louisiana between now and Sunday night.

The Storm Prediction Center has lessened the possibility of severe storms in the area over the next 48 hours but there the entire state is in a geographical area that is considered to be at a "marginal risk" for strong storms at least through Saturday night.

The inclement weather has caused some cancellations and postponement of several different activities already. Mommy and Me's Kidsfest which was set for Saturday in downtown Lafayette has been canceled. Downtown Alive! will go on tonight but the free music concert will be held inside Lafayette's Rock N Bowl.

Officials with the LHSAA have suspended play in the state baseball tournament in Sulphur. Games that were suspended on Thursday will resume on Sunday afternoon. The championship games will then be played, weather permitting of course, on Monday and Tuesday.

Festivities set for the Rayne Frog Festival will go on as planned for the weekend although organizers will likely adjust their schedule based on weather conditions. Also, the Chennault International Air Show set for Lake Charles has not announced any changes in the schedule for their performances either. That show is set to begin tonight and run through Sunday.
