St. Martin Parish Driver Killled In I-10 Crash Near Duson

An 89-year-old St. Martin Parish resident is dead after a failing to yield to a truck while attempting to merge onto Interstate 10 Wednesday morning.

Duson Police Chief Kip Judice reported the crash occurred near exit 92 on I-10 westbound at approximately 10:15 Wednesday morning.

After colliding with the truck driven by 28-year-old Jose Lopez Arreola, the fatally injured driver's vehicle was forced off of the roadway into a tree.

Impairment is not suspected to have played a role in the accident. Though the investigation is ongoing, no charges are expected to be filed.

Judice said the deceased's identity is being withheld pending family notifications.
