Several people were being shot at yesterday afternoon in Abbeville, and a 16-year-old has died.

According to Lieutenant Jonathan Touchet of the Abbeville Police Department, officers were called out to investigate and unfolding situation on Kibbe Street when 911 was notified that someone was firing shots.

Touchet explains, via press release, that detectives are continuing to investigate all of the circumstances surrounding this case, but they have arrested Ryeheem Veney of Abbeville on two charges.

Detectives learned through their investigation that Veney was their suspect in connection with the Abbeville juvenile's death.

Veney has been charged with First-Degree Murder and Attempted First-Degree Murder.

Once officers were able to track Veney down, he was booked into the Vermilion Parish Jail.

Touchet says that they are expecting that more arrests are going to happen in connection to this case.

He reports that Abbeville Police Chief Bill Spearman says that they are always open to listening to people who want to report information to their detectives anonymously.

If you know something about the teen's death, and you want detectives to know about there are several ways they can be given this information.
