LAFAYETTE, La. (KPEL) -- A late night fire destroyed a mobile home Thursday night and damaged two other mobile homes in the process.

Lafayette Fire Department investigator Alton Trahan said firefighters were called out to the home at 10:40 p.m. Thursday.

"When firefighters arrived, heavy flames were coming from the mobile home," Trahan said.  "The flames were impinging on the mobile homes on both sides of the structure of origin."

Firefighters were able to quickly stop the spread of the blaze, Trahan said.

The two mobile homes on either side of the fire suffered heat damage to their vinyl siding, Trahan said. The mobile home that caught fire was completely destoyed.

The owner of the home was outside at the time of the fire when a friend told her there was smoking coming from the home, Trahan said.
