The St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office arrested two people after an investigation into the harming of a one-year-old child.

St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Major Ginny Higgins says that 43-year-old Tony Domingue of St. Martinville and 25-year-old Jarretta Carrerre of New Iberia were both arrested after an investigation that began in Iberia Parish.

Higgins says they believe the child's severe injuries were inflicted by Domingue, who is the boyfriend of the child's mother, Carrerre.

Domingue is facing the following charges:

  • One Count-LA. Rev. Stat. 14:107.2-Hate Crimes (Felony)
  • One Count-LA. Rev. State. 14:93.2.3- Second Degree Cruelty To Juveniles (Felony)
  • One Count-LA. Rev. Stat. 14:34.7-Aggravated Second Degree Battery (Felony)

Carrerre is facing the following charges:

  • One Count-LA. Rev. Stat. 14:107.2- Principal to Hate Crimes (Felony)
  • One Count-LA. Rev. State. 14:93.2.3- Principal to Second Degree Cruelty To Juveniles (Felony)
  • One Count-LA. Rev. Stat. 14:34.7- Principal to Aggravated Second Degree Battery (Felony)

Both of them were booked into the St. Martin Parish Jail.
