Two 16-year-olds are dead following a shooting in New Iberia on Sunday afternoon.

According to New Iberia Police Department Chief Todd D'Albor, the initial investigation shows that an argument occurred between two 16-year-old males in the 700 block of Rosalie Street which led to an exchange of gunfire. Each victim shot the other fatally.

The coroner pronounced them both dead at the scene of the incident.

Because of the age of the victims, their names are not being released.

The investigation is ongoing, police say.
