Louisiana Woman Killed in Crash After Being Rear-Ended
A two-vehicle crash in Acadia Parish on Monday claimed the life of a Morse woman.

According to Louisiana State Police, the accident happened just after 4:00 p.m. on Louisiana Highway 92 near Everglade Road.
The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Cora Barrios, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer westbound on LA Hwy 92. As she slowed down to turn onto Everglade Road, a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 78-year-old Raymond Knieper, failed to slow down and crashed into the back of her vehicle.
Officials confirmed that, unfortunately, Barrios was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died.
Knieper, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to a hospital to be treated.
As part of the ongoing investigation, toxicology samples were collected from both drivers.
State police used this tragic incident to remind drivers about the importance of wearing a seatbelt, stating that proper seatbelt use can significantly reduce the risk of severe injury or death in a crash. They also urged motorists to remain alert and avoid reckless or distracted driving.
The crash remains under investigation by local authorities, and no further details have been released at this time.
