Vermilion Narcotics Agents Arrests Two After Chase
Yesterday agents with the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Narcotics Division were searching for people with outstanding warrants.
In Gueydan, agents saw 30-year-old Gene Zenon Jr. in a car with another guy. The car was parked on private party.
Narcotics agents say when they tried to stop him, he sped away at a high rate of speed down Highway 14.
While they were fleeing, agents say the passenger, 32-year-old Wallace Turner of Kaplan, opened his car door, poured something out of a cup, and then Zenon sped up again.
Another police cruiser joined in the chase, and the suspect's car almost came to a stop. When the car slowed, police say Turner jumped out of the car, and he was detained.
Zenon sped off once again, but Vermilion deputies gave up chasing him in Jeff Davis Parish due to his increasingly dangerous driving.
Jennings police were finally able to get Zenon to stop.
Zenon was arrested for:
- Failure to Appear for trial for Possession with intent to Distribute Oxycodone
- Several traffic warrants
- Possession of Dolophine
- Possession of a prescription without a valid prescription
- Aggravated flight
Turner was arrested for the following:
- Possession of Dolophine
- Possession of a prescription without a valid prescription and transactions involving drug proceeds as well as a Parole hold
