Woman Found As Deputies Work To Solve Murder In Branch (UPDATED)
Tyla Meche was found at a residence on the Church Point Highway just north of Branch where deputies say she was hiding.
"I want the thank America's Cajun Navy and our deputies for the efforts in searching the wooded areas looking for Meche," says Sheriff KP Gibson. "They have all worked hard to find Meche. We received information of her being alive and in the area at a residence. Deputies located Meche and have arrested her in connection with Sunday's murder investigation."

Another arrest has been made in this case - Kervee Woodard. He is currently in the Acadia Parish Jail on a charge of 2nd Degree Murder.
“The focus of our investigation is to locate Tyla Meche," says Sheriff KP Gibson. "Our goal is to locate her safely. This investigation leads us to believe that Tyla Meche may have entered the same wooded area that Kervee Woodard did as they were fleeing deputies. Though it is not confirmed that Tyla was with Woodard at the time he entered the wooded area, we are focused on searching this area. We ask if anyone has been in contact with her since Sunday, to call investigators at 788-8721 or 788-8700."
Chief Gibson says their office will be working with America's Cajun Navy as they search for Meche in the swampy wetlands.
"We appreciate their support," says Chief Gibson. "We want to make the residents in the Branch area aware of what were are doing and ask that you allow APSO and America’s Cajun Navy the opportunity to focus on this task. We will be in this area for the next several days."

Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson tells KPEL they are still looking for Tyla Meche in connection with murder in which someone was shot to death in a car.
Gibson says they arrested Kervee Woodard after the Saturday night shooting after they alleged that either Woodard or Meche shot the victim after an argument in a car.
Woodward and Meche fled into a swampy, wooded area off of Highway 365 west of Branch, and while Woodward was caught, Meche was not.
If you have any information about where Tyla Meche might be, you are asked to call Acadia Crime Stoppers at 337-789-TIPS(8477) or the Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office at 337-788-8772.
