1 Arrested, 1 Wanted In Opelousas Armed Robbery, Shooting
One person is in custody and another is wanted in connection with a shooting.
Opelousas police arreted Deandra Weston on attempted first-degree murder and armed robbery charges. Markenta Williams, of Mamou, is wanted on the same charges.
Investigators say that shooting happened early Wednesday morning near Sidney Street. Wetston and Williams are accused of robbing the victim at gunpoint and stealing his money before shooting him in the back. The victim took himself to the hospital. Police described his injuries as "serious."
Police arrested Weston early this morning with the help of the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office and the sheriff's SWAT unit. He remains in the St. Landry Parish Jail.
