At least three people are reportedly injured due to a hazmat crash on I-12 near Livingston.

Multiple local news sources report that a tanker carrying hazardous materials crashed into a State Police vehicle earlier this morning. Currently, I-12 eastbound is closed at mile marker 19.

WBRZ reports that the tanker exploded on I-12 around 4:30 a.m.

Around 4:30 this morning. tropers from Troop A received a call about a two-vehicle emergency on I-12 at milepost 19, that's just east of the Walker exit on I-12. A trooper was stationary on the left shoulder with his emergency lights on and for unknown reasons, a tractor-trailer that was also traveling eastbound in the left lane drifted onto the shoulder and struck the rear of the trooper's unit.

Video showing flames from the explosion were posted by nearby residents on social media.

Authorities say that it is a hazmat situation but residents are safe and there is "no need for local evacuations."

Eastbound traffic is currently being diverted to US Hwy 190 at LA Hwy 447 and we will update this story when I-12 eastbound opens up again.
