Iberia Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office reports they were called out to a retail store at 603 West Admiral Doyle Driver yesterday after a woman said she was robbed at gunpoint.

Iberia Parish Sheriff Louis Ackal says deputies found out that the 40-year-old female victim was just leaving the business when she was approached in the parking lot by a man armed with handgun.  She says the suspect pointed the handgun at her, and he stole her purse.

The woman says the suspect ran away from the scene of the crime, and he went in the direction of 502 West Admiral Doyle Drive.  Deputies say the suspect was identified 18-year-old Chance Walker.  His address is 502 West Admiral Doyle Drive, Apartment L5.

Iberia deputies secured a search warrant and an arrest warrant for Walker.  The detectives believed that Walker was hiding inside of the apartment complex.  The Iberia Sheriff's SWAT Team went into the apartment, and they found Walker who they say was attempting to evade capture.

Detectives says they were able to find evidence in Walker's apartment linking him to the robbery.  He was arrested and booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on a charge of armed robbery.
