The Rayne Police Department continues to crack down on drug use and sales in their community.

Officials with the department say they have been conducting a long term investigation into drug activity, and they have arrested a 36-year-old man for drug sales.

Officers arrested Wilson Ceasar of 712 Chappuis Street on allegations that he was distributing schedule II narcotics, in this case, Cocaine.

Rayne Police Chief Carroll Stelly had this to say about their investigation,

"Drug sales are the base reason of many, if not most of, our property crime and crimes of violence. It is imperative that we continue to combat this epidemic faced by every community in our nation."

Stelly says he wants citizens to know that there are plenty of more arrests on the way.
