(St. Martinville, LA.)-The St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint yesterday saying an elderly man may have been the victim of a scam. 
An investigation into the allegation showed that the man was approached by a male subject in front of his house in the early hours of the morning asking for gas money and a ride back to his car.
The victim complied and while driving the subject he added that he also needed money for his mother's funeral expenses.
The suspect assured the victim that he would reimburse him once he received his “settlement” from an offshore injury.
 
The victim gave the suspect the cash and paid for him to stay at a hotel room in Breaux Bridge. 
 
The investigation lead to  53-year-old Tommy J. Derousselle of Breaux Bridge, LA who was arrested Tuesday afternoon without incident at the hotel in Breaux Bridge and was charged as follows:
