Church Point Man Arrested On Multiple Charges Following Traffic Sto
(St. Martinville, LA.)-On Tuesday, September 24, 2019, shortly before 2:00 a.m. while conducting routine patrols, a Deputy with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop in the 1200 block of North Berard Street, Breaux Bridge, La., when he observed a passing motorcycle with no license plate.
The motorcycle failed to stop, and continued traveling and eventually turning onto D'Augereau Road. Shortly after the pursuit began, the Deputy observed the driver throw an object from his possession. The pursuit continued for several miles through St. Martin, Lafayette, and St. Landry Parishes; and came to a stop in the 500 block of Martinez Street (in St. Landry Parish). The suspect fled on foot and following a short foot pursuit, a Deputy with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office apprehended and subsequently arrested the suspect, Maurice Henry, 45, Church Point, LA., in a field behind the residence.
Following further investigation, the motorcycle was found to be unregistered and uninsured. It was also learned that the suspect was driving with a suspended license that did not have a motorcycle endorsement. Subsequently, Officers with the Breaux Bridge Police Department recovered the object that was thrown during the pursuit. Inside the object, they located a suspected meth pipe, a small clear plastic baggy containing suspected meth, and a scale.
Following his arrest, he was transported and booked into the St. Landry Parish Correctional Center. Shortly after, he was transported to the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center where he was booked on the following charges:

- La. Rev. Stat.-47:501 Owner Failure To Secure Registration
- La. Rev. Stat.-32:863.3 Motorcycle Endorsement
- La. Rev. Stat.-32:415 Suspended Driver’s License
Additionally, he was also arrested on an active warrant for Lafayette Parish for Failure to Appear for trial for several traffic violations.
