Crime Statistics Show Overall Decline
The Lafayette Police Department is reporting an overall reduction in the 2010 UCR reported crimes within the City of Lafayette. Increases were registered in the categories of Homicide, Rape, and Burglaries while decreases were registered in Robbery, Assault, Theft, and Auto Theft. The Lafayette Police Department attributes the decreases to adapting to changes in crime trends throughout the community. The department continues to research programs and cutting edge technology being used by Police Department’s around the country to combat crime within the City of Lafayette. The Lafayette Police Department continues to refine and adapt its crime-fighting capabilities to address the ever-changing patterns of criminal behavior.
