Lafayette Police Identify Dead Body Found In Downtown Lafayette

Lafayette Police say they found the dead body of 24-year-old Michael Luke Darby after 12:00 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Polk Street.

Officers on scene say the Darby was found lying behind a shrub next to a business. Investigators say the victim was in an apparent struggle before he died.

Investigators are still trying to figure out how he died and how long he was dead before he was found. Police say they are treating the case as a homicide.

The victim has not been identified. His body has been transported to the Lafayette Parish Coroner's Office for further examination. The case remains under investigation.
